Why Jesus? PDF Print E-mail

There are thousands of belief systems in the world. What's so special about Jesus?
Is Christianity the "right one"?

Is it crazy to think there is just ONE right one?

Not if it's true. Jesus said He was "the Way, the Truth, and the Life" (John 14:6). Either He was telling the truth or He wasn't. If He was telling the truth, it's not crazy to agree with Him. As we look at the claims of Christ, there are only four possibilities: He was either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord. If we say He is not Lord, we are automatically agreeing with one of the other three alternatives, whether we realize it or not.
If He was a liar or lunatic, why were the religious leaders of the time so threatened by Him?  Could His actions and words not been easily discounted or refuted?
In his famous book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis (author of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe) makes this statement, "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us."
So, if He wasn't a liar, wasn't a lunatic, He must be Lord. What difference does it make?
Why do we need Him??

Well, first that God is light and in Him there can be no darkness ( 1 John 1: 5 ). This means that since God is perfect and holy, He cannot bear ‘sin’ BUT because of His immense love for us, He does not want to see us seperated from Him.
Some may not believe in sin and have other modern views about this, but the truth remains that we are seperated from God because of sin ( 1 John 1: 8 ). God put in place ways for us to follow, until the time of Jesus. The Ten Commandments and other Laws were there for our guidance and still are, but they could never take away our sin.

The way back to God is through Jesus ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3: 16)The mission of Jesus was to save the world, by dying for us. He died so that our sins would be taken away and we could be restored into a right relationship with God, He paid the price for us “I am the way, and the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.”( John 14: 6 )
As we believe, follow and have faith in Jesus, He takes away our sin, heals us, fulfills us and gives us peace from this world. It doesn't mean life will be perfect, in fact, Christians throughout the ages have faced suffering and persecution in this world, but God will never leave us; He walks with us through all the trials in our lives. The peace He gives us is beyond all understanding.

The choice is up to us - Peace, hope, and eternal life or death.

God will not force us into this relationship, the choice is ours and it is free and open.
Don’t wait on the fence too long, choose Jesus before it's too late.
